This Class will meet in the Loan Elm Room at the Mattoon train station, NOT Morrow Studios. Mondays – Nov 17th - No classes Thanksgiving week - Dec 1st, 8th, 10th 1:00–4:00 PM | 4 Sessions | Max 9 students Step into the world of gouache—also known as opaque watercolor—a medium with a rich history that found its heyday in mid-20th century advertising illustration. Loved for its bold colors, velvety matte finish, and forgiving nature, gouache has long been a favorite of working illustrators and remains Peyton’s (Your Instructor) personal medium of choice. In this class, you’ll learn how to harness its unique qualities to create imaginative environments, working from both reference and invention. We’ll cover techniques for layering, blending, and controlling value to achieve story-driven pictures. Please note: Materials are not included for this course. A full materials list is provided in this description so you can gather your own supplies. Only purchase the recommended specific supplies. Not all paints are created equally.
